Join a conversation with George Latimer who represents Congressional District 16 on the subject of the SAVE Act, H.R. 22, a bill pending in the House to amend the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 in a manner that would increase the existing proof of U.S. citizenship requirements for registering to vote in elections for federal office. LWVUS opposes this legislation as unnecessary, divisive, and likely to have a disparate impact on citizens of color and married women whose surnames do not match their birth certificates.
